Shainin Statistical Engineering… A Few Case Studies

Presented by Dave Peter

Dave will be reviewing some case studies that were solved using Statistical Engineering. Statistical Engineering combines both statistics and engineering to trace variation (the Green Y) back to the cause (the Red X).

 

 

Some of Dave’s Background

Dave’s primary job is husband to Peg and father to 3 daughters, three sons, and 4 granddaughters.

His secondary job assignments have included material joining, advanced automotive electrical power generation, electric vehicle power systems development, and problem solving using Shainin Statistical Engineering techniques. Dave’s latest assignment has been to coach GM corporate warranty reduction teams using Statistical Engineering. This resulted in a minimum 7 Million $ savings. He has 6 patents, 3 defensive publications, and 1 trade secret.

Dave graduated from General Motors Institute in 1977. He also obtained his Professional Engineer certification in 1981 and Shainin Master Certification in 1996. He is member of IEEE and SAE.

His hobbies include motorcycles, old John Deere Tractors, and playing drums.
