About the Preclinic:
Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA) is an
analytical methodology used to ensure that potential problems have been
considered and addressed throughout the product and process development
process. Part of the evaluation and analysis is the assessment of
risk. FMEA is a familiar tool to Quality Engineers.
About the Program:
AIAG (Automotive Industry Action Group) and VDA (Verband
der Automobilindustrie) have partnered to publish a new FMEA Handbook. Our
Section is now a member of AIAG and purchased a copy. Steve Zylka has
prepared this program.
The new FMEA Handbook incorporates the best
practices from both AIAG and VDA methodologies. There is a new process for
FMEA development - the 7-Step Approach.
- Totally revised Severity, Occurrence and
- The Action Priority (AP) replaces RPN
- New Form Sheets and Software Report Views
- Change point highlights from both the
previous AIAG and VDA handbooks.
