|
About the Pre-Clinic:
The pre-clinic will explain the Design of
Experiments (DOE) Matrix, how it works, how it was developed, and the power of
its design to identify significant factor effects. It is important to attend the
pre-clinic as lessons learned will be used to analyze the experiment in the main
presentation.
About the Program:
The main presentation will be an introductory lesson
on how to plan, organize, conduct, and analyze a simple experiment. Actual
data will be collected, analyzed, and interpreted during the meeting. One
or two Design of Experiments applications from industry will be reviewed as time
allows. Bring your calculator and be sure to attend the pre-clinic for the
DOE Matrix lessons.
About our Speakers:
Rhonda
Goss is a Quality Engineer, currently employed at Hoffco|Comet in
Richmond. She has 14 years experience in the quality professions. Rhonda is an
ASQ certified CQE, CQA, and CQT. Rhonda is a past Chair of Section 0904. She has
also held several committee positions on the Section Board. Rhonda graduated
from Indiana University and earned a certificate in Quality from Ivy Tech.
Michael
L. McDonald
is a Registered Professional Engineer and a
Certified Quality Engineer, who worked in quality improvement training and
application from 1982 to 2000 at Delphi Automotive Systems (formerly known as
Delco Remy, Division of General Motors). He has taught approximately 150
classes to over 2500 students in a simple, accurate and enjoyable style to GM,
suppliers, and customers worldwide. He is an enthusiastic and helpful
guide and has earned many loyal customers who refer their peers, employees,
bosses and friends to his outstanding classes. One engineering supervisor
used to tell his new employees, "Find out whatever classes Mike McDonald is
teaching and you take them all."
His classes have included Statistical Process Control to all functions and
levels, Taguchi Design of Experiments to technical and non-technical people,
validation planning and interpretation, and quality management including QS-9000
implementation.
In 2000 he started his own company, Michael L.
McDonald & Associates, Incorporated, located in Anderson, to offer
quality classes and continuing statistical support. His customers
primarily include, manufacturing and service organizations, individuals, and
companies in East Central Indiana.
Post-Meeting Follow-up:
Twenty-eight (28) quality professionals attended the
February 2003 meeting.
Doorprize Winners: Bruce Hunnicutt took home the CQE Handbook,
Henry Peresie the Six-Sigma Handbook, an Vicki Storer won the Free
Meal. Thomas Ancich's name was drawn for the $100 Attendance Jackpot - but
he was not at the meeting.
Mike McDonald explained the DOE Matrix in the
Pre-Clinic. After dinner Mike, with Rhonda's assistance, lead us
through a DOE using paper Helicopters. Randy Hartman volunteered to be our
Ace Pilot, Winston Lovelace ran the Hanger, and Cindy, a Ball State student,
recorded the data. It was a fun and informative meeting.
