"The
White Bead Company"
Speaker: Bill
Wortman
Owner - Quality Council of Indiana
|
About the Program:
The White Bead Company
This presentation is a comical spoof of Dr. Deming's parable of the red beads.
A fictional company producing white beads has been formed. Unfortunately, red
defectives are being produced. The concept of variation is comically
illustrated. Common paradigms regarding both human and system practices
are exposed. The audience may be asked to plot a c-chart or brainstorm
improvements to eliminate or reduce the defects.
About our Speaker:
Bill Wortman is the owner of Quality Council of
Indiana - a publishing firm in Terre Haute, Indiana. He is a Senior Member
of ASQ, former Chair of Section 0919, and is currently Deputy Director of Region
9. Bill has passed the ASQ Quality Auditor, Quality Engineer, Quality
Manager, Quality Technician, Improvement Associate, and Reliability Engineer
exams. Bill has instructed more than 9,000 individuals in quality
fundamentals including certification training in the quality manager,
engineering, auditing, technician, and improvement associate bodies of
knowledge.
Post-Meeting Follow-up:
Twenty members attended the February Meeting to hear
Bill Wortman conduct a fun but enlightening exercise. Bill brought two of
his new primers as door-prizes. Duane Buckenroth won the CSSBB Primer and
Steve Harmeyer won the CQIA Primer. Steve Scott won the Audit Handbook and
Rhonda Goss won a free meal. Robert Lawerence's name was drawn for the
$100 jackpot. You must attend to win and Robert was not at the
meeting.
|

Rhonda Goss supervises Winston Lovelace in the
Bead Mixing Department of the White Bead Company. Greg Ramey and
Steve Zylka look on. |

While Bill Wortman decides who
to fire and who to promote. |
 |
Bob Cooper consoles Vicki Storer
- fired for producing too many red beads - while Winston Lovelace laughs
at our headgear. |
