About the Program:
In our modern organizations, 'Change'
seems to be the only constant. Some of the most popular management books,
like Who Moved My Cheese, make the case that people and organizations
need to change. But at the same time our organizations are adopting
standards such as ISO 9000, QS-9000 and ISO 14000. Mr. Baker will explore
the apparent contradiction. He will draw on his experiences at Honda Motor
Company and Saint-Gobain in Japan and China as well as the US and Europe.
There will be an opportunity for Q&A.
About the Speaker:
Mark Baker was born and raised in Ohio
and studied Mechanical Engineering at Ohio State. He worked for Honda
Motor Company and held technical and managerial positions at the Ohio facilities
that manufactures Accords. Civics and Gold Wings. Later he earned an MBA
from the University of Pittsburgh with a focus on quality and
productivity. Mark joined Saint-Gobain Abrasives in Worchester, MA.
He had the opportunity to spend 3 years in Japan, working on technology transfer
between Saint-Gobain International groups. Mark spent two years in
Shanghai, China, in charge of quality at a new plant. He returned to
Worchester, MA to be responsible for quality in North America for Bonded and
Superabrasives. Two years ago he transferred to Saint-Gobain Containers,
Muncie, as Vice-President of Quality and Process Control.
Pre-Clinic:
Winston Lovelace will give us a video tape tour of the Subaru-Isuzu America
plant in Lafayette, IN.
