December 2001 Membership Meeting Wednesday, December 5, 2001
About the Program: There are two parts to our December program, a Plant Tour and a talk by our host and tour guide Dennis Oakes.. Plant Tour: Please arrive early so that we can start the tour at 6:00 PM. Production works until 6:30 which gives us an opportunity to see some of the equipment in operation. DynAmerica requires safety glasses and earplugs - bring yours if you have them. Safety shoes are not required but no open-toed shoes are allowed. Talk: Several years ago DynAmerica's plant was destroyed by fire. Dennis will explain how the company recovered from the fire. Management credits the spirit of the employees as the key factor that actually saved the company from this devastating event. Most interesting to us quality engineers will be how DynAmerica maintained QS-9000 requirements while sub-contracting out work they were unable to perform. Dennis will also explain how the company was able to meet shipping schedules and retain customers during this difficult time. About our Speaker: Dennis Oakes is the Production Manager for Finishing at DynAmerica. Dennis and Chuck Darger, our section Chair-Elect, worked together in the outsourcing process. Post-Meeting Follow-up: Fourteen Quality Professionals and three guests attended the December tour of MTU DynAmerica. Tom Reid won the free meal drawing. We finally had a $150 Jackpot winner: Chuck Darger. It pays to attend!
