"Cullet Quality Measurement System"
by Peter Walters & Katie Flight
verallia
formally known as
Saint-Gobain Containers, Muncie, IN

About the Program:

Peter and Katie Flight will be a co-present on Verallia's Cullet Quality Measurement System.  We will dimension the increasing value of cullet to our business and the quality challenges we experience as volumes increase.

About our Speaker:

Peter Walters is VP Purchasing and Distribution at Verallia, Muncie, IN
Katie Flight, also of Verallia, will be a co-presenter.

Post-Meeting Follow-up:

Fifteen Quality Professionals and guests attended our April meeting and heard an excellent presentation on cullet (crushed, cleaned and graded recycled glass).  Katie explained the COPS system of grading a batch of cullet - as system that bring objectivity to what was subjective.  Peter explained how important "Bottle Bills" (state imposed deposit on glass containers) are to the supply of cullet.  Verallia has the goal of increasing cullet use, which creates quality issues, but has the benefit of reduced cost and conservation of energy and raw materials.
